Steve Staedler was a guest speaker in my Tactics II class on Monday, October 14. Steve is a senior public relations executive at LePoidevin Marketing in Brookfield, WI. He spoke to our class about B2B PR, Cision, and other things that are relevant to public relations students, like myself, interested in pursuing a career in the field.
Cision is a very helpful tool professionals can use to find media information. Cision has a large database full of contact information. Cision can also assist companies in forming media lists. Cision saves time and is an efficient way to reach the media in a timely manner.
Steve also talked about the prevalence of social media in the field of public relations (and marketing). In this day and age, many businesses are starting to utilize social media as a means to reach its publics quicker. B2B companies don't utilize social media as much as B2C, but it is becoming more popular among B2B.
I thought Steve was really helpful and knowledgable. I appreciate public relations professionals taking time to come into the classroom to offer their insights and advice. I am so excited to get out into the field as a public relations professional!
Brittney, I have to agree with you that I cannot wait to get out into the field myself! Having all of these professionals coming into the classroom and speaking to us about their professional lives is so interesting. They are all so happy and excited to go into work everyday it seems, and that is why I cannot wait to be a professional in the field of PR. Its such a beneficial and interesting occupation to have! Steve really showed us that PR can be so interesting, like his example of having to climb that windmill! #Awesome Experience!

ReplyDeleteI thought that your blog was written really well. I thought that Steve did a great job on explaining the different jobs that he has to do pretaining to B2B PR. I didn't really know too much about B2B before Steve spoke, so it was nice to see another outlet that PR has to offer. I also liked how he brought his own case study. I thought it was a good way to get the class involved, and I liked how he brought a case study that he ans his company and to work through.

I really do thing that if companies can reach more people they just have to connect with the right groups and people on social media to gain results and make the use of social media useful.
