Amy Paul is a recent graduate of the University of Wisconsin Whitewater. She came to talk to my PR Tactics II class about her journey after college through the "real world" and how she ended up where she is now! She really enjoys her work in the public relations world. I was really surprised at how quickly she landed a job, and how many jobs she has had in such a short amount of time!
Amy currently works as an Interactive Account Coordinator for Ascedia. Before Ascedia, she worked at Bottom Line Marketing and Public Relations as a Public Relations Assistant. The kind of job she had at Bottom Line Marketing and Public Relations is a pretty standard way to start out as a public relations professional, and I hope to be able to start out as a Public Relations Assistant after graduation. Her first job after graduation was at the Milwaukee County Executive's Office as a Public Relations Assistant.
Amy has been fairly successful in the job world post-graduation and lent some really helpful advice to our eager class. She said to get involved, work hard, network and land internships. She had a lot of internships throughout college, and that is one thing that I know I need to improve on. I think that her journey is inspiring and I hope to be as successful as she is.
I love that you linked to Bottom Line Marketing...I wanted to learn more about the company and was actually going to look it up, but now I don't have to! Thank for saving me that step. This posting is concise and informative, well done.

ReplyDeleteI am in the exact same boat I need to find an internship before i graduate. The fact that she had so many was a bit intimidating but very inspiring as well.

ReplyDeleteI too was surprised at how soon Amy landed a job! I can only hope I have the same success post-graduation. The networking, internships and campus activities she took part in clearly paid off for Amy and there is certainly a lesson to be learned from that. Like you, I too could improve my resume by landing another internship. I just finished a year-long internship this summer and hope to add another to my list before graduation. Amy's speech was a reality check, but a helpful one at that; and I can't wait to apply her advice to my own life!
